The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Department of Transportation, and other agencies are raising concerns over glare from solar energy installations and its impact on pilots, air-traffic-controllers, and motorists. Sandia National Laboratories (Sandia) has developed a web-based Solar Glare Hazard Analysis Tool (SGHAT) that addresses a new federal policy requiring quantified assessments of glare from proposed solar installations.
