When a bushmeat poacher’s snare almost completely severed Enkesha’s trunk, the only way to alleviate her pain and prevent infection was to undertake emergency surgery. But, unable to carry out adequate follow-up treatment in the bush, this meant separating Enkesha from her mum and the one-year-old calf was flown to our Orphanage for an emergency operation.
