The week of Dec 8, 2014, progressives launched a heroic fight to strip a Wall Street giveaway out of the year-end spending bill. As a part of that fight, Senate Elizabeth Warren called out the big bank Citigroup by name 32 times on the floor of the Senate.
Why? Because the language of this Wall Street giveaway was written by Citigroup. And they’re trying to hold Congress hostage in order to get the language made into law.
This Wall Street giveaway is the gutting of an important protection (passed in a 2010 bill called "Dodd-Frank") meant to prevent future bailouts. For more background on what this Wall Street is trying to overturn this protection, see:
