Copy number variations (CNVs), from single gene to segmental duplications, are increasingly recognized as critical features of the human genome. Droplet Digital PCR (ddPCR™) technology enables accurate and reproducible copy number determination via a simple, cost-effective workflow amenable to high throughput.

Samples with copy numbers of 5 vs. 6 are easily resolved, as are samples that are heterogeneous for gene amplifications. This technology has immediate implications for researchers interested in resolving somatic mosaicism, tumor heterogeneity, or other applications where fine quantitative discrimination is essential.

The QX200™ Droplet Digital PCR system, Bio-Rad's second-generation digital PCR system, provides absolute quantification of target DNA or RNA molecules using EvaGreen or TaqMan hydrolysis probes, yielding unmatched sensitivity and precision for a wide variety of applications.

Presenter: Jennifer Berman PhD, Senior Scientist
Dr. Berman earned her PhD in genetics at the University of California, San Francisco as a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Predoctoral Fellow. Her postdoctoral work at Stanford University examined the molecular neuroscience of sleep and appetite. Jen Berman's recent R&D work in personal genomics focused on the contribution of human genetic variation to health and disease. At the Digital Biology Center, Jen is a senior scientist focusing on copy number variation and assay development.
