What is a Bereavement Award?
A bereavement award is made following the death of a "loved one" involved in an accident due to the fault of another.
The award is only a token amount awarded to the "Dependants" of the Deceased.
The current bereavement award is £12,980.00.
We are currently campaigning to have this small token amount increased.
Who can claim for a Bereavement Award?
The Bereavement Compensation Award covers: -
1. Surviving spouse
2. Surviving civil partner
3. Parents (if the child was under 18)
Obviously in addition to a Bereavement Award, Dependants can claim compensation for:
1. Loss of income of the deceased (or benefits) that the dependants relied upon
2. Funeral expenses & head stone
3. Compensation for the fatal injury
4. Expenses and losses
5. Medical expenses
Whilst we appreciate that no amount of compensation will replace a loved one, by making a claim it will help relieve the financial stress and may bring a sense of justice.
For sympathetic legal help and advice, please contact us.
There is a limited time to make a claim.
