A handful of Autodesk software developers in Shanghai used a Raspberry Pi as an alternative to having the blind obtain books written in Braille.

The team indicated that they used https://github.com/tesseract-ocr to convert an image into a text file, and then use http://espeak.sourceforge.net/ to convert text into audio. Both of these are open source software. They combined these two functions with Python.
