The trip down to Campbell Island is usually a rough one - the names 'roaring forties' and 'furious fifties' to describe the southern latitudes are a pretty accurate description of the seas in this neighbourhood. And while the penguin 'Happy Feet' (that was dropped off near Campbell Island in 2011) might not mind these rought seas most of the Campbell Island Bicentennial Expedition team on board the HMNZS Wellington (a Royal New Zealand Navy offshore patrol vessel) were happy to stick to our beds and NOT think of churning stomachs!

Check out the footage of the rough seas down there, our first sight of the island, and the big unloading to get set up at base camp for our nine week expedition.
