This is a 2015 release of the original soundtrack for the famous Hitchcock thriller "Psycho", from 1960, composed and directed by Bernard Herrmann. It has been released by an obscure European (Italian, I've been told) label called Doxy Music and its movie soundtrack division Doxy Cinematic. Since the company profile cannot be found (at least i haven't been able to find it), audiophiles distrust the label and a renowned audiophile website puts it in the "avoid" category or "check before buy" at best. I want to say that, while it's true that this recording sounds as if the movie soundtrack were being played through an old radio, I'm truly impressed with the quality of the record itself. It's one of the flattest and most perfectly centered records I've ever seen. According to the label, it's a high quality virgin vinyl, 140-gram record. The audio has noticeable background noise, but it's definitely because of the source and not from the record itself. The record company even put different custom labels for each side. I feel that the people at Doxy put their best effort on giving the collectors a high quality product, at least regarding manufacturing. I'm happy with it.
This is NOT a re-recording of the film score. It's the original music as heard in the movie, and that's why the sound quality isn't very good. Here are the two most recognizable themes from the "Psycho" movie in "lo-fi" sound (insert evil laugh here).
01. (00:17) Prelude / The City / Marion And Sam / Temptation
02. (06:37) The Bathroom / The Murder / The Body / The Office / The Curtain / The Water / The Car / The Swamp
