Is everything you know about protein wrong? Tim Van Orden reveals some hidden truths about protein and discusses the benefits of enzymes (a type of protein machine) for supplying amino acids. Most people incorrectly believe that dietary protein must come from animal muscle or dairy products. But Tim points out that plants are full of protein, much of it in the form of enzymes, peptides and amino acids in the labile state. Tim also points out that protein consumed does not go directly to muscle growth and repair, but first must be broken down into its component amino acids before being reassembled as needed into muscle protein and enzymes for metabolic use.
.
What are the best sources of plant protein?
• Dark leafy greens are protein packed.
• Hemp seeds contain all 9 essential amino acids and are a protein powerhouse. They also contain large amounts of omega 3 fatty acids.
