Impro-Visor is a music notation program developed by Professor Bob Keller and students at HMC and other schools over the past few years. It is free, open-source, software for all platforms, with a user community of over 7000. The talk will center on using Impro-Visor as an edutainment vehicle. Participants will be shown how to construct and playback tunes, how to use Impro-Visor to explore concepts such as chords, scales, licks, contrafacts, chord voicings, improvisation, styles, and algorithmic music, as well as creating and communicating their own lead sheets, MIDI, and MusicXML files.
