Madison is a Great Billed parrot who was found in someones yard. The lady who found her searched for two weeks for the bird's owner but could not locate the owner. She took very good care of Madison, but she could not keep her. She agreed to send Madison to me and I was going to try some more to find the owner or keep her.

Right before Madison was to fly to Georgia her owner was found. Madison's owner could no longer care for her and had decided that Madison would be better off if she set her free outdoors. Madison was free in the wild for about a week before she was found. She was found about 15 miles from her home. Madison is clipped so she walked and fluttered those 15 miles!! Madison's original owner did not want her back but we were glad to have spoken to her so that we now know some history about her.

It is truly a miracle that Madison survived for a week on her own. Her life was saved by the lady who found her!! I believe that Madison's big red powerful beak was too threatening to cats, squirles, hawks, and crows and they just left her alone!! Although....she did lose her tail feathers while she was loose.

Madison is in very good condition after her adventure!! Our vet could not believe that she was in the wild for a week. The vet found no health issues at all with her other than a few ruffled feathers and she is about 20 grams underweight.

Madison is still kind of stressed and scared but each day she improves and seems more relaxed. We love her and we are so thankful to Mary who found her and saved her life!!
