The Davidson River in Western North Carolina has been one of the south's best trout fishing destinations for many years. The upper section of the small stream is loaded with nice fish that are extremely tough to catch. This is because it has been a managed section that is fly fishing/ catch and release only. This makes it a huge draw to any fly caster in the area and since it is so small, it is usually very crowded. This trip to NC was a marathon day with my friend Chris J (the guy climbing the tree to retrieve his fly) and I leaving Charleston at about 3:00 in the morning. We were the second group in the parking lot and soon after there were more and more anglers filing in. However, we were able to gt on some fish and ended up with a pretty good day. If you like social fishing, see the clip that shows 3 anglers on one pool, and check out the Davidson River.
