St. Louis County Highways & Traffic adopted a proposal by Great Rivers Greenway for a mixed-use pedestrian-bicycle path as part of a "Great Streets" plan for West Florissant Ave. in Ferguson. It was revived following the disturbances and international attention after Michael Brown's shooting death by Ferguson police Officer Darren Wilson on Saturday, August 9th, 2014.
The current "Great Streets" proposal lacks consideration of those competent cyclists who wish to continue to control a travel lane on this major 4-lane road.
As proposed in this video, the solution is signage and road markings to avoid creating conflict between motorists and lawful on-road cyclists.
