At CSUSM, scholarships play an important role in fulfilling dreams and transforming students. In this video, you will hear the story of Daniel Wambua. As the recipient of the Lawrence E. and Neva B. Fenstermaker Foundation Scholarship and J. Douglas and Marian R. Pardee Scholarship, he worked in the infectious disease lab at CSUSM conducting undergraduate research. Daniel studied the immune system's response to viral infections such as AIDS and tuberculosis. He recently graduated with an impressive 3.9 GPA, and this fall he began a doctoral program at Harvard Medical School and plans to continue his research in disease prevention.
