What connects these topics? A tenacious curiousity to see what you can learn by just jumping in.

Robyn Metcalfe, an historian, desert distance runner, and food futurist with a lifelong hunger to take on irrational challenges, is using the same sense of wonder that called her to run the great deserts of the world to map our current food supply. A seemly daunting task when you stop to marvel at what it takes to simply create a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
