This is the part of a working session of the Bergenfield, NJ Mayor/Council in which they discuss their options regarding the construction of a new community center on how and whether to proceed with plans for a new community center.

The proposed site is the second one being considered as the first was strongly opposed by a significant number of residents. The current site is also opposed by the local community as there is concern that building and developing there will increase the chances of flooding downstream.

Clearly, the proposed project is in a state of considerable uncertainty and even confusion. Unfortunately the town went ahead and cut down over thirty healthy mature tree's to initiate the construction...one of the trees was reportedly over a hundred years old. It's a shame that they went ahead and improperly cleared all those trees before having the whole project planned and financed and approved of by the people of Bergenfield.

For an excellent summary of the situation see the following blog by Carol Hoernlein at Blue Jersey.com. The blog is in three parts, links to the first two are provided at the end of the third. http://www.bluejersey.com/showDiary.d...
