Therapy dogs provide unconditional love and acceptance. They don't care that your hair is gone from chemotherapy, that a stroke has left you unable to speak, or that you have a disability. With the help of their human handlers, they create an immediate healing bond with patients and their loved ones.

Dogs may even nudge you towards recovery. They may be used to encourage patients to walk, or build strength and dexterity by brushing them.

Therapy dogs visit only with the physician's order and patient consent. They follow strict guidelines set in the Therapy Dog Program policy.

If you love animals, you already know how healing their presence can be. At Mission, carefully trained and screened (and freshly bathed!) therapy dogs visit patients of all ages. Their mission is simple; to be there when a cold nose and a furry paw are the best medicine.
