Case Western Reserve University Senior Project
Design, Build and Test of a Hybrid Rocket Engine
The rocket produces 16 pound of thrust, and runs off of PMMA (poly methyl-methacrylate, or Plexiglas) and GOX (gaseous oxygen).
With the help of Sierra Lobo, four succesful test firings were completed. The fifth firing experienced a casing failure when a gap between the graphite nozzle and the PMMA fuel rod formed, allowing the hot gasses to get to the aluminum casing.
