Our 2014 Service Projects took us to a Puerto Vallarta middle school called Tele-Secundaria Pedro Bravo Ruiz. The school has seven teachers, seven classrooms, and 165 students. Our Student Reps had the opportunity to sand down the facility, apply fresh coats of paint, clean the school's logo display, and provide much needed classroom supplies to help enhance the students' day-to-day classroom activities. Once the manual labor was complete, the local students and our Student Reps were able to spend time playing soccer, basketball, and getting to know one another.
2014 also marked the third year of the partnership between Southwestern Advantage and RISE Orphanage in Puerto Vallarta. In previous years we've spent time with the children and staff, performed maintenance and upkeep on the orphanage, and donated needed supplies such as mattresses, clothing, and food. The children rarely venture far from the facility. Thanks to the Krystal Resort, the RISE staff was able to bring the children off-site to join our group for lunch and a pool party at the hotel.
