(29/10/12) Islamist rebel fighters are seen to clash with Kurds in the countryside North of Aleppo. Fighting erupted between Kurds and rebel brigades after rebels attempted assaulted Kurdish areas, including a Kurdish dominated neighbourhood of Aleppo. Hundreds of Kurds were detained with at least one reported to have died as a result of torture.

Kurdish and Lebanese sources claim that a well known rebel leader known by the nom de guerre Abu Ibrahim, commander of the so called 'Northern Storm Brigade' based around Azaz, was killed in the insurgent- Kurd clashes as he attacked the Kurdish town of Qastal Jindo. Ibrahim was known for being responsible for the kidnapping of 11 Lebanese pilgrims, all but one of whom remain in captivity.
