Ryerson University Mechanical Engineering graduates were tasked to design and prototype an automatic control system of a variable height adjustable desk as a final year thesis project. The table, supplied by Ergotables, features a linear actuator, to which a control system was outfitted and interfaced to a computer. An easy to use software application was developed to aid automation of the table's adjustment throughout the day, relaxing muscles and mitigating aches and pains.
