To the sound of Acadian country and folk music, people danced and drank in the boats after the annual blessing of the fleet. This also marks the beginning of month-long celebrations that will culminate in the great reunion of Acadians through an event called the "Acadian World Congress", in which festivals, theatre plays, music shows and other events highlighting Acadia's culture and heritage will be enjoyed. These events are to further encourage Acadian solidarity and unity, link people and families together and demonstrate that Acadians continue to exist and flourish despite the attempt to destroy them in 1755. The night ended with a fireworks display by Bernard Frigault, an award-winning pyrotechnician based in Caraquet, NB, complete with several different types of fireworks and even an Acadian flag made out of fireworks.
