George and Shaolin Lu O'Neill are in Montreal demonstrating the ins and outs of the Bixi bike sharing system.

Here's how bikesharing works: for a monthly subscription, you can unlock a rugged road bike from any of the over 400 Bixi stations much like taking out a shopping cart or airport luggage trolley. You can then lock it back up at a Bixi bike station near your destination by simply rolling it into the self-locking rack. It's convenient, inexpensive and environmentally friendly urban transportation in a crowded metropolitan city.

Currently available only in Montreal and London, England, there is a push to introduce this program to Toronto as well. If Bixi Toronto reaches 1,000 subscribers, they plan to open in downtown Toronto in May 2011.
