Ian Donohoe and James T Whittaker take on the Mary Towneley loop on a perfect summers day. The ride kicked off in Accrington and after climbing over Hameldon Hill we joined the Pennine Bridleway network at Crown Point. It took approx 7hrs to complete the loop inc good lunch stop at Aladdin's cave on Edge Lane. Near the end and after dropping down into Waterfoot we hacked back to Accrington on the road. Total distance 58 miles. The MTL is a brilliant long distance Mountain bike route, especially in these conditions.
