Taking a closer look at my Kaffir Lime Tree I have had for about 3 years. For the past two winters, I brought it indoors where it was then apparent I had a dormant infestation of scale insects. The scale insect does not appear to move around (though I am sure they must move a little :)) Scale insects fall into one of two catagories, soft scale or armored scale. I have the soft scale because soft make the leaves and container sticky from the secretion. The tree is doing great and loves being outdoors in the warmth of the sun and the humidity. I really hope to get a full size lime this year! We shall see... The tree is used for the leaves in cooking, though the zest of the lime is also used, but not near as much as the leaves.
