I forgot to mention you can safely disable startup on the Xbox360 tools the update installs. (Windows 8 task manager, or msconfig in Windows 7 and older) Otherwise it will pop up when you press the PS button.
TROUBLESHOOTING FAQ:
Q: ...After I install, nothing happens and controller is blank/not detected:
A: I get this problem the most. Try placing it in a new folder in C:\Program Files\ and run the install again. It might be a UAC thing. I recently installed it on a few computers and had to do that for the newer computers with Windows 7 and 8. On Windows XP I had to manually start ScpServer.exe before it would enable the controller. But I was able to get it working on all computers eventually with those 2 things! (*update: this was fixed by doing the next one below!)
Q: ...Windows blocks the file, service doesn't install, or controller not detected after installation!
A: ...After downloading the package, right click it and properties, then hit unblock if it's there. Now extract it (overwrite if you previously extracted) and proceed. The service won't install if it's not unblocked!
