The first decent days weather for weeks so I got lined up for a day at Llansteffan Castle, one of the most photogenic places around. I woke up super early, and realised I could actually see the stars in the night sky for the first time in ages. There was only one thing to do, to shoot down to Llansteffan before dawn and film that beautiful river mist that would inevitably happen on a cold Autumn morning like this. Boy did it come out well. For this reason I have named this video "Awesome Castle" instead of Llansteffan Castle, just for a change, submitting to the general YouTuber method of naming videos.
The first clip was at Ferryside, but had to be cut short because the mist came rampaging down the Towy Valley and misted over my lens. I therefore I had to find higher ground to avoid that problem, so back to Llansteffan to put myself in front of that distinctive dead tree that I remember so well from the last time I came down here. From here, I had the mist, the sunrise and the castle in one frame.
When the sun came up I was eager to get to the top of the castle to look down on the mist moving down the valley because it looked so impressive from ground level. It didn't disappoint, looking down was just awesome, so much so that even at 7am I bumped into two or three other people up there who had come to do the very same thing. It was also Friday of half-term so there were plenty of people around -- I just found ways of not getting them in my film.
The music is somewhat aggressive, but suitable for a castle that symbolises oppression / aggression -- it was built by the Normans to keep the Welsh under control, and could be serviced from the sea to prevent sabotage.
The track is named "Nascimento" by Barrie Gledden and Richard Kimmings.
This is what time lapse is for -- I hope you enjoy it.
