Try a new take on squats with a modified pistol squat. I'm Samantha Clayton, fitness expert and former competitive sprinter. I'm working with Herbalife to help you achieve a healthy active life.
If you're an avid runner, you'll love adding this quad stabilization exercise to your leg training program. Your quad muscles at the front of your leg are important for running, especially for stabilizing the knee. Regular squats using weights are great for building strength. This exercise will challenge your balance and individual leg strength, even without using weights.
You'll need a stable chair or bench behind you to help you with this exercise. You can do a modified pistol squat in a beginner version or an advanced version by adding weights. If you're ready for an advanced athletic challenge, you don't even need the chair or bench.
Have fun trying today's variation of a classic yet effective fitness move. What's your favorite type of squat?
