I am a big fan of drum covers. I think this is really a great way to learn to play and having fun at the same time. Put your iPod on and jam along with the bands you like! Tonight, alone in the studio, I decided to try to cover Fear Factory's "Obsolete". This is a greatly underrated track with machine-like drumming (hail Raymond Herrera) but also great inspiration, as you can hear in these weirdly syncopated verses. It takes a little time to figure them out, but it makes a real nice exercise to stay focused. I tried my best in one shot with no special practice of the song before. Because of this, the fills and cymbal patterns might not be always the original ones but I simply wanted to get the groove going. I use Soultone cymbals exclusively, and also in this video. Go and try them out, you NEED to hear and test them out. You won't ever touch any other brand again. Ask me for details by email or join me next april at the Frankfurt MusikMesse for more information. Don't forget to visit the website: www.soultonecymbals.com Enjoy the video!
