The USC Stevens Institute for Innovation has partnered with the Deshpande Foundation and the Ewing Marion Kauffman FOundation, leading philanthropic foundations focused on innovation and international development, to pilot summer program for student innovators to develop scalable ideas for improving the quality of life in specific regions of India. During the summer of 2009, three student teams were sent to India to develop and work with: water purification and education, SMS technology, and hygiene education.
