Just got the English version of Fates and managed to successfully import my friend's Japanese save file into it with no issues whatsoever.

Due to the method I used to obtain the game, had to record it with my cell phone which is the reason for the video not being steady. You can expect a better quality video after Thursday night when the game is officially released.
