Extract from an 18 minute introduction to St Helen's, Ranworth, an astonishingly beautiful and fascinating Norfolk parish church, by Professor Eamon Duffy (University of Cambridge). The film features a detailed explanation of the remarkable images on the medieval roodscreen and of the illuminated antiphoner used by the choir, bringing alive the story of this wonderful church including the glories of the Middle Ages and the impact of the Reformation.

The film comes from "The English Parish Church through the Centuries: daily life & spirituality, art & architecture, literature & music " (interactive DVD-ROM, 2010), produced by the Centre for the Study of Christianity and Culture at the University of York. The DVD provides introductions to the latest research on parish churches and the influence of Christianity on literature, music, art and society from 225 leading scholars with nearly 2000 stunning images from national and international collections. The English Parish Church also includes vivid 3-D models of the development of church interiors and exteriors, specially-recorded music from the Anglo-Saxon period onwards, conservation information, and individual case studies of over 30 churches. A resource for everyone interested in art, architecture, archaeology, literature, history, and music. See http://www.christianityandculture.org.uk
