From ARCHLINUX.org: News: libpng/libtiff rebuilds move from testing] 2012-02-05 - Ionuț Mircea Bîru

Recent releases of libpng and libtiff have required a rebuild of all packages that depend on them; these have just been moved from [testing] to the main repos. As usual, remember to fully update your system and check your unofficial packages (especially the cairo-* packages from AUR) for required rebuilds.

The update might output messages similar to:
g_module_open() failed for /usr/lib/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders/libpixbufloader-svg.so:
libpng14.so.14: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

These can be safely ignored if you use our official cairo package; otherwise you may need to reinstall librsvg.

update/upgrade related pages for Archlinux
In the 'Newbie' section of the forum, there is this very important 'sticky' (as well as others);
In the 'Pacman' Archwiki;
You will note the part about how it tells you to search for related pkgs. So in the situation we had with this update, for example you could search for all cairo-related packages installed, or possibly libpng, etc. like so;
pacman -Qs cairo
local/cairo-compmgr 1:git20111002-1
A Cairo based composite manager
local/cairo-ubuntu 1.10.2-6
Cairo vector graphics library, with Ubuntu's LCD rendering patches
local/cairomm 1.10.0-2
C++ bindings to Cairo vector graphics library
local/lib32-cairo 1.10.2-2
Cairo vector graphics library (32-bit)
local/pixman 0.24.2-2
The pixel-manipulation library for X and cairo
local/python2-cairo 1.10.0-1
Python2 bindings for the cairo graphics library
after this last update, i had to re-install these packages and a few others ;)
there is more relevant info around the Archwiki, and throughout the forums, not only to do with updates - but essentially anything one might need to do / be aware of. Place your comments on my FORUM at http://www.cupoflinux.com
