In the beginning, the surface of Gälûñ'lätï was covered in one great ocean. All the animals lived in the skies of the planet. One day, Little Water Beetle decided to find out what was below the water's surface. He wandered over the surface of the water, but found no place to rest. So he dove down to the bottom of the ocean and brought up soft mud. It then expanded in all directions and became the earth.
