This is both my final Animation Techniques project and an entry in NPR's "Following in Muybridge's Footsteps" contest, where the entrants have to submit an animation that brings the work of artist and animation pioneer Eadweard Muybridge into the modern day.
This is a cutout animation piece, with all the editing done in After Effects. Believe it or not, but that horse is actually made up of many individual cutouts - one for each pose. Tedious? Yes, but at the scale I made these things, it was easier than making a cutout puppet that size would be. The After Effects background is paper as well, being made up of several screenshots, each printed out on tabloid-sized paper.
