Talented children who get stuck in the educational system have very limited access to support. Tijl Koenderink realized this at an early age when he encountered problems in his development at school. He aims to understand what is missing in the present day educational system that is causing the current problems, as well as take on an active role in changing it. He advocates to take the focus away from dumping content in children's brains, but facilitating the process of developing character.
Almost a dropout, Tijl Koenderink embarked on a world journey to find out how learning and the mind works traveling across the world. Most recently he founded organisations that help schoolteachers cater to the gifted. In addition he co-founded a new public school in Amsterdam focused on talent development and he runs a gifted dropout recovery center.
