At the corner of North Davidson & 15h st, there is a big warehouse building that is home to many an artist, some of whom have studios there. Tuesday nights are meetups through http://www.meetup.com , under Charlotte Artists Meetup. Caught on film, they are hosted by "The man with the plan", Carlos, the dude in the straw cowboy hat I swear he'll wear til the day he dies.
Last night, we had an Art Party, where there were mohito drinks all 'round (bacardi rum, brown sugar, mint leaves, lime juice, seltzer, guava juice), and we all painted on a huge canvas. I did a spirit angel, and after, watched an illusionist (who was a real cool cat and showman of sorts). When I got tired of following him around, I found a guy who used to be in the military singing & playng piano with our bartender, Jessica. Probably one of the best random findings of the night. In another area, they were showing silent films like Nosferatu and Charlie Chaplin, which was neat, but I was too into creating and networking to take too much interest.
Afterwards, my friend Alex took me to The Penguin, a famous old indy diner artsy people tend to gravitate towards for whatever reason. 2 previous mohitos, a buttery nipple, a carribean breeze (pineapple & cranberry juice, + vodka?), and a burger on rye later, Val is drunk as hell, yet the whole time intoxicated manages to hold a camera steadier than most. Bwaha. So James met me at The Penguin, and we fooled around a bit before going to sleep, once home. ^___^ What a night!! *squeak!!* I LOVE my CAM! Eeee!
