Robar is the rock/metal solo project of Roman Barbun from Kiev, Ukraine. Roman's concept behind Robar is to invite various online musicians to collaborate; I was asked last summer. I had carved out some time in September and October to track all of the drums for both of my solo EPs, and decided to knock this one out in the midst of it all for a much needed break from the madness.
This is a nice little moody number. I especially dig the pre-choruses with the numerous effects, it reminds me of birds chirping... underwater. Haha. The verses are a bit trickier to play than they may seem because of the variety of dynamics. The bridge contains a marching-esque snare pattern/ostinato, with the feet building in orchestration to push into the second half (check out the quick 3-16 at 4:15).
For all gear related inquiries, please head to my website/'misc'/equipment lists. Speaking of, I got to utilize my Adam Argullin soft yarn mallets briefly - not often that I get to do that. 'Twas a close shave transitioning back to the sticks, hah.
