[682 - 8/4/17] Another song, like 'Danny (Superstar)' and' 'Just In Case,' written whilst living in France. This is me in reflective mode, thinking about life's ups and downs, and conjuring up this little effort. There had been a lot of turmoil and as is often the case, this would find an outlet in music. A way of looking on the bright side; I have a number of similarly themed songs, which counter-intuitively seem to come out of life's down moments.
'It's Alright With Me' started off life an up-tempo song, then some time later I played it with guitar arpeggios, which slowed it down and seemed to suit it better. There have been a few attempts at recording it, one even veered off into Country music, which I performed at a 'Volunteers Oscars Night' at The Victoria Hall in Bolton in 2009. This version is closer to what I hear in my head; recorded with my little home studio set-up - well, my living room!
With its springtime theme. I thought I'd better bump it up in the queue of tinkersong projects, and taking advantage of some early sunshine, I headed off to a local nature reserve, Eatock Lodge, to film some footage for the edit.
Whilst the song reflects on times when I've been buffeted about; its theme is universal. Life can be hard, we get through it - though the only person you can truly rely on is yourself...
It's Alright With Me Written & performed by Chris Buckley
It's been some year I've been through so many things So many ups and downs I've seen what life can bring Now I see the sun The signs of spring You know it's alright with me
There were times I thought My world would tumble down Everywhere I turned Trouble I found Now I see blue sky A break in the clouds You know it's alright with me Alright with me
I was so confused My life a mystery Now I understand The answer The answer was with me
I could write a book Paint my history Who, where, what, when, how? To be or not to be In the end you take it philosophically You know it's alright with me Alright with me
