"They continue to struggle with 3." <-pretty much the definition of Valve

It's funny that Yahtzee hates on most games (even good ones), but then the ones he loves always end up going down as some of the most revolutionary pieces ever made in the games industry. Something that wins 23 game of the year awards he'll brush off, and sure enough, three years later we won't be talking about it. but he loves Portal, and 8 years later (Jesus Christ) it's one of the most influential physics games of all time.

I had a friend. He kept saying to me that CoD was the best game of all time. One day i told him Deus Ex was the best game i ever played. He said (before seeing the game for the first time) that CoD was better than Deus Ex and that Deus Ex was the first and worst game ever made. After that one day i was playing Portal 2 and said friend came in and said ``Man Portal is such a piece of shit game``. I murdered him.

I feel like sometimes steam and the very devoted fan base are the only things keeping Valve in the spot light. One day, years from now, my son is going to say "dad! dad! the new Half life is out!" And at first I'm going to be like "half life? what the hell is half life?" then slap myself in the face and remember, quickly buy the game, and play the crap out of it. Then I'll sink into depression because the game will leave me wanting more and it'll take another 10 years for them to release anything at which point I'll probably end up forgetting about Valve again. I love Valve and all but if a developer, youtuber, or company doesn't stimulate my interest every so often I just forget about them (not in a fuck you sort of way I just completely forget because I get distracted by life or other things like work or other games).

Here is the problem Valve really can not release Half Life 3 because they are in the same problem as 3D Realms where if they release their game people have been waiting for a long time it will not live up to the hype.
