This video presents work by a member of the IEG (Marc Davies) who is investigating how computer games and their related technologies could be adapted to create virtual and mixed reality intelligent environments. In this video a real smart home (the iSpace) is connected to a simulated version of the home (created in RealXtend); the UPnP middleware operate seamlessly across both the real and simulated environments so events (or states) in one environment are reflected in the other (ie switching off the light in the simulation cases it to be turned off in the real space, or vice-versa).
