On March 13, 2008, FOX's Sean Hannity interviewed John McCain for the full hour. The interview started with questions about McCain's time as a prisoner of war in Vietnam. At one point, this was said: HANNITY: You spent two years of this five-and-a-half-year period in solitary confinement. What does that do to a person, to spend that much time in solitary confinement? MCCAIN: I think it makes you a better person. Obviously, it makes you love America. I really didn't love America until I was deprived of her company.
Get that? McCain "really didn't love America" until he was a POW.
Now think about how the right (including FOX and even Cindy McCain) have attacked Michelle Obama for saying that "for the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback," a quote that even Laura Bush has defended. Now listen to what McCain said. Let that sink in for a bit. Feels good, doesn't it?
But there's more.
Jedreport.com discovered that the transcript of the McCain/Hannity interview on FoxNews.com had no mention of McCain saying he "really didn't love America" until he was a POW. I checked and sure enough, it wasn't there. So I started watching the video of the interview of FoxNews.com — it wasn't there either.
Luckily, I was able to find the full interview somewhere else.
So I started watching the interview, which started with Hannity asking McCain about his time in Vietnam as a POW. It was during this opening segment (before the first commercial) that McCain mentioned that he didn't love America. But check out the transcript and the video — they both start AFTER the first commercial break with questions about McCain's appearance at CPAC. FOX has completely erased the first segment to hide McCain's statement that he "really didn't love America".
We've really got them on this one. How on earth can FOX explain why they have censored their own website? Can there be any other reason than that they are trying to protect McCain from his own words? Is this in any way consistent with a channel that claims to be a "fair and balanced" news organization?
We need to go after them on this. They can't run from it. They are the republican propaganda machine. That's it. Why else would they seek to hide this clip, especially since Michelle Obama's comment is one of the right's strongest arguments that the Obamas are radical America haters?
Maybe you should ask FOX for yourself. Contact them here:

And spread this video to everyone you can. We can't let FOX keep claiming they are "fair and balanced" when the rest of the media is "liberal". No other channel would do something like this to aid a candidate.
Let's nail these turkeys.
PS This isn't even the first time McCain has said he "didn't really love America" until he was a POW. He's been saying it for years.
UPDATE 6/24/08
Due to the enormous attention the video has been getting, FOX has undoctored their site so it now shows the correct transcript and video! Find out more here http://tinyurl.com/6y9xby
