The flooding Mohawk River courses downstream to Cohoes Falls NY and then to the Hudson River. Video taken at 2:10-2:30 PM on August 29, 2011, just after the flood crest in upstream Schenectady, NY. The very high water levels were the result of runoff from Hurricane Irene flooding the Schoharie Creek and other smaller streams in the higher peaks of the Catskills in upstate NY. The air near the falls was full of mist which smelled of mud, topsoil and concrete. Summer flow over the falls is usually very low. For comparison there is some video from moderate late spring runoff earlier in 2011.
