From small screen roles to big screen fame, the likes of Starsky and Hutch's Ford Gran Torino or Lady Penelope's custom pink 'FAB 1' Ford Thunderbird in the 2004 Thunderbirds movie are just some of the famous Fords showcased in classic movies.

Who can forget the flying Ford Anglia 105E Deluxe in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets or the equally airborne 1948 Ford Deluxe, which helped John Travolta go like greased lightning against the Scorpion's Mercury in Grease.

Mustangs have also been a popular model on film, from Sean Connery, as James Bond, driving a Mach 1 on two wheels through Las Vegas in Diamonds are Forever, to the 1967 Ford Mustang GT500, known as 'Eleanor', that Nicholas Cage lusted after in the 2000 re-make of Gone in 60 Seconds. The most famous Mustang, though, is likely to be the iconic GT 390 Fastback that Steve McQueen piloted expertly for 10 minutes on screen in Bullitt's legendary car chase.

There have even been some Fords attacked by dinosaurs on film: the custom-painted, electric-powered Ford Explorers in Jurassic Park putting up valiant resistance against a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Had that big old lizard picked on Mel Gibson's ultra-tough Ford Falcon XB Hardtop in Mad Max though, the dinosaur may well have come off second best!
