200 MPH+ control line *DREADNOUGHT PULSE JET* (BMFA NATS 2017) [*UltraHD and 4K*] First time I had seen one of these and certainly one of the scariest to film. Safety dictated I filmed from behind the safety fencing obviously but you get the clear impression of the speed of these projectiles. The line is fixed to a pole in the centre and the pitch/elevator control by a slider that moves backwards and forwards on the line. The movement on the elevator is tiny. No more than 2mm. The power from these pulse jets varies from 4lbs to 8lbs. Enough power to push these models to over 200mph average over 8 circuits! This 'Dreadnought' pulse jet was flown by Richard Grindley.
Filmed at the British Model Flying Association (BMFA) Power Nationals ('NATS') event 2017 using the Panasonic AG-UX180 4K pro camcorder by Dom Mitchell of 'Essential RC' YouTube channel.
