What is a great workout?
A great workout is a workout that gives you results. You cannot judge a workout solely on how you feel.
If I don't feel like working out, I will go to the gym, start warming up and see how I feel 15 minutes into it. If I start feeling good I just get my full workout but if I don't feel good then I might just take the day off. If I take the day off, I pick up the next day where I left off.
What To Do Before Working Out
Ideally you are following a bodybuilding diet, which means that you are eating every 3 hours, consuming proper amounts of carbohydrates, proteins and fats.
My pre workout meal: To be taken 90 minutes before the workout: protein shake with some oatmeal.
Pre-workout supplementation: You may consider taking a Nitirc Oxide Booster such as Super Charge Xtreme or Stim Force. I also take BCAAs and Glutamine, which helps with muscle tissue repair.
Planning the Workout
It's important to know what exercises you are doing before you get to the gym. I write down my exercises in a log and that way when I get to the gym I'm on a mission.
It's important to go to failure in each set doing as many repetitions as I can in each set. This is important because you need to build fatigue in the muscle until you get to the growth treshold. You need to only rest enough in between sets to keep fatiguing the muscle. Use your breathing as a guide. The minute your breathing is stabilized that is when you need to hit the next set.
After the Workout
I make myself a drink with PowerCarb and Lean Pro8 in order to replenish my glycogen stores and provide the protein my body needs in order to grow.
