Seniors Driving and Drivable

When a person turns 80 and every 2 years thereafter, drivers must be medically assessed by their doctor. The doctor submits a report to the OMSV. The tool utilized for this test is SIMARD. There are many complaints from all ages that this system is unfair and unscientific, as a result a meeting was sought with Nicholas Simons, MLA for Powell River-Sunshine Coast. During the meeting as you will see and hear, MLA Simons details many of the problems inherent in this test procedure.

The public ask many questions and MLA Simons responds by assuring all present that he will pursue this matter to an equitable solution.

CIty of Powell River Mayor Dave Formosa also attended and was offered an opportunity to speak as well. He demanded that the other two representatives from the area, Regional District Chair Colin Palmer, and MLA Simons, join him in an immediate plan of action, seeing how all agree that this is an ill-concieved government policy.

Much more is spoken about and as you listen you will learn...

Shaw TV was also in attendance and captured the meeting in its entirety, you may want to check local listings for time to view.
