Big Mike Muniz 1996 Pro Street Twin Turbo 409cid Impala SS. Winner 2008 SoCal Super Chevy Show Modern Pro Street.

***BIG MIKE MUNIZ 1996 PRO STREET IMPALA SS***

*LT-1 409 CI INTERCOOLED TWIN 60MM
TURBOCHARGERS.

*COMPRESSION RATIO IS 8.4-1 CUSTOM PISTONS WITH TOTAL SEAL PISTON RINGS. THE

*CAMSHAFT GRIND IS 224/224-114. THE CYLINDER HEAD IS A LT-1 CAST IRON THAT HAS BEEN PORTED (EXTRUDE HONED) AND HOUSES 2.08"/1.65" HEAT TREATED VALVES WITH 1.550" DOUBLE VALVE SPRINGS AND A 10 DEGREE CHROM-MOLY RETAINERS. THE INTAKE MANIFOLD ALSO RECEIVED MACH PORTING.

*ALL INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL ENGINE STUDS, NUTS AND BOLTS ARE BY ARP FOR STRENGTH AND DURABILITY.

*THE TURBO AND INTERCOOLER SETUP ARE ALL FABRICATED BY MPE FABRICATION (MY BUDDY KIETH MEASE). THE TURBO SETUP ALSO RUNS ON ALKY FOR WHEN HIGHER BOOST LEVELS ARE REQUIRED.

*FUEL SYSTEM USES AEROMOTIVE AEROMOTIVE PRO-SERIES FUEL PUMP AND FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR WITH CUSTOM ½ FUEL LINES.

*CUSTOM ALUMINUM 20 GALLON FUEL CELL.

***I'M IN THE PROCESS OF PUTTING TOGETHER A 704 CUBIC INCH WITH TWIN 106 MM TURBOCHARGERS THAT WOULD EVENTUALLY REPLACE MY 409.***

*INTERIOR FEATURES ARE:

*7.50 CERTIFIED FULL ROLL CAGE WITH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SWING OUTS.

*KIRKY CUSTOM ALUMINUM DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEATS WITH SIMPSONS 5 POINT SAFETY HARNESSES.

*ALL OF THE TIN WORK HAS BEEN POWDER COATED IN SATIN BLACK.

*INTERIOR HAS BEEN RECARPETED IN BLACK.

*SUSPENSION AND FRAME:

*FRONT SUSPENSION IS A SHOCKWAVE ADJUSTABLE AIR STRUT POWERED BY A 1.5HP COMPRESSOR THAT STORES AIR IN A 5 GALLON AIR TANK.

*THE REAR SECTION HAS BEEN TUBBED AND FRAME HAS BEEN NARROWED.

*FORD 9" WITH 4:56 DETROIT LOCKER AND 35 SPLINE MOSER AXLES, ADJUSTABLE REAR COIL OVER SHOCK ABSORBERS, AND A 5 LINK SUSPENSION.

*ALL BACK HALF AND ROLL CAGE FABRICATION WORK WAS DONE BY FAB-TECH CUSTOM FABRICATION AND WELDING.

*WHEELS AND TIRES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

*MICKEY THOMPSONS SPORTMANS TIRES, 33" X 21 ½" (BULGE TO BULGE IS 27 ½") ON 15" X 15" WELD DRAGLITE WHEELS AT THE REAR AND 26" X 5" ON 15" X 5" WELD DRAGLITE UP IN FRONT.

*BRAKES:

*WILWOOD BRAKE CALIPERS AND BRAKE DISCS.

A STRONGER TRANSMISSION IS ALSO IN THE WORK. WE GRENADED THE BUILT TRANSMISSION ON OUR FIRST DYNO RUN @ 1,336HP AT LOW BOOST (TRANSMISSION WAS BUILT TO HANDLE UP TO 1,000HP). ON OUR SECOND DYNO RUN @ 1,680HP/1,431TQ AT 26 POUNDS OF BOOST THE TRANSMISSION ALSO WENT "KABOOM"! A NEW TRANSMISSION (TH400 WITH TRANS BRAKE AND A NEIL CHANCE TORQUE CONVERTER) ALSO FAILED ON A HARD LAUNCH AFTER MY SECOND RUN DOWN THE STRIP FOR A MAGAZINE PHOTO SHOOT. I WILL EVENTUALLY INSTALL A LENCO RACE TRANSMISSION ONCE THE NEW ENGINE IS COMPLETE. THE REASON ALL THERE TRANSMISSION FAILURE IS DUE TO THE "DOOMSDAY" WEIGHT OF MY CAR (4343lbs with fuel and me in it)!
