These amazingly colorful scenes were filmed in Santa Clarita, California, in February of 2012. High, humid winds aloft were formed into waves as the air below moved over local mountain ranges, essentially making ripples in the air currents - much like water ripples over obstacles in a stream. As the air above was forced up a little higher, the moisture condensed into clouds. Upon returning to the lower altitude on the downward (downwind) side of the ripple, the moisture evaporated and the cloud disappeared, allowing the normally invisible peaks of the ripples to be seen.

The little black speckles which can be seen in a few of the shots are a huge colony of White-Throated Swifts circling the area in front of the camera as they catch dusk-flying insects. Swifts are interesting birds, spending most of their lives in the air and seldom landing, they are most closely related to Hummingbirds :-)

The soundtrack is "Oasis" from the "Silicon Landscape" CD by Technician (yours truly), album and single track available on iTunes: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/sili... full artist discography and CDs available at HTTP://technician.jcmdi.com
