Children from Texas Children's Purple Songs Can Fly team up with musicians at ZapBoomBang Studios to create and record a song based on their experiences undergoing cancer treatments. This new song is named "It's out there waiting" and is sold on iTunes with a companion digital booklet about the making of the song. All proceeds from the iTunes sales will go directly back to Purple Songs Can Fly.
The Purple Songs Can Fly program at Texas Children's Cancer Center is dedicated to providing a creative musical outlet to the many children being treated for cancer and blood disorders. In this program, the children work with founder, Anita Kruse, and other professional composers to write and record their own songs.
"It's Out There Waiting" is dedicated to Jesus Jacobo-Alvarez, who is one of the young poet of Purple Songs Can Fly. He died of acute lymphoblastic leukemia in July 2012 and did not live to see the song's release.
